How to Germinate Tomato Black Krim

How to Germinate Tomato Black Krim (Solanum lycopersicum)

  • Sow Tomato Black Krim seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date.
  • Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix, using seed trays or small pots.
  • Maintain a soil temperature of 70-80°F (21-27°C) for optimal germination, which typically takes 7-14 days.
  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during the germination period.
  • Once seedlings develop their first set of true leaves, transplant them into larger pots. Harden off plants before transplanting them outdoors.
  • Space the plants 24-36 inches apart in a sunny location with fertile, well-draining soil.

Additional Tips

  • Tomato Black Krim thrives in full sun and prefers rich, well-draining soil amended with compost or well-rotted manure.
  • Water deeply and consistently, especially during dry periods. Avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of disease.
  • Apply mulch around the base of the plants to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and prevent weed growth.
  • Support the plants with stakes or cages to keep the heavy fruit off the ground and prevent stem breakage.
  • Fertilize every 2-3 weeks with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer, focusing on higher phosphorus content to support fruit production.
