How to Germinate Pea Little Marvel (Pisum sativum)
  • Sow Pea Little Marvel seeds directly outdoors in early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked. They are frost-tolerant.
  • Plant seeds 1-1.5 inches deep in well-draining soil, spacing them 2-3 inches apart in rows that are 18-24 inches apart.
  • Maintain a soil temperature of 40-75°F (4-24°C) for optimal germination, which typically takes 7-14 days.
  • Soaking the seeds in water for 12-24 hours before planting can speed up germination, although this step is optional.
  • Keep the soil consistently moist during the germination period, but avoid overwatering, as peas do not thrive in overly wet conditions.
  • Once seedlings are a few inches tall, provide a short support such as a trellis or small stakes, as Little Marvel is a bush-type pea.

  • Pea Little Marvel prefers full sun and grows best in well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5.
  • Water regularly, especially during flowering and pod development, but avoid wetting the foliage to prevent disease.

  • Harvest peas when the pods are full and firm, picking them regularly to encourage continuous production.
