How to Germinate Mignonette

How to Germinate Mignonette (Reseda odorata)
  • Sow Mignonette seeds directly outdoors in early spring after the last frost, or in late summer for a fall bloom.
  • If starting indoors, plant seeds 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date.
  • Scatter seeds on the soil surface and press them down lightly; do not cover deeply, as they need light to germinate.
  • Maintain a soil temperature of 60-70°F (15-21°C) for optimal germination, which typically takes 10-14 days.
  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during the germination period.
  • Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin or transplant them to about 6-12 inches apart to encourage healthy growth.
