How to Germinate Hyssop Purple Giant (Agastache rugosa)
  • Sow Hyssop Purple Giant seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date or directly outdoors in spring after the danger of frost has passed.
  • Sprinkle seeds on the soil surface and press them down lightly; do not cover, as they need light for germination.
  • Use well-draining soil and maintain a temperature of 65-70°F (18-21°C) for optimal germination, which typically takes 14-21 days.
  • Water lightly to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged during the germination period.
  • Once seedlings have 2-3 sets of true leaves, transplant them outdoors, spacing them 12-18 inches apart.
  • If sowing directly outdoors, thin seedlings to the same spacing once they are a few inches tall.
