How to Germinate Goji Berry Tibetan

How to Germinate Goji Berry Tibetan (Lycium chinense)

  • Sow Goji Berry Tibetan seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date for best results.
  • Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours to enhance germination.
  • Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep in well-draining potting mix in seed-starting trays or pots.
  • Maintain a soil temperature of 70-85°F (21-29°C) during the germination period, which usually takes 7-14 days.
  • Water the soil lightly to keep it consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging.
  • Once seedlings have developed 2-3 sets of true leaves, transplant them into larger containers or directly outdoors, spacing them 2-3 feet apart.

Additional Tips

  • Goji Berry Tibetan prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Plant in well-draining soil enriched with organic matter.
  • Water regularly, especially during the first year, to establish a strong root system. Once established, Goji berries are drought-tolerant.
  • Apply mulch around the plants to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and suppress weeds.
  • Prune the plants in late winter to remove dead or weak branches and encourage healthy growth.
  • Fertilize with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support vigorous fruiting.
