How to Germinate Corn Sugar Buns (Zea mays)
  • Sow Corn Sugar Buns seeds directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed to at least 60°F (16°C).
  • Plant seeds 1-2 inches deep and 4-6 inches apart in rows spaced 30-36 inches apart.
  • For optimal pollination, plant corn in blocks of at least 4 rows rather than a single long row.
  • Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist during the germination period, which usually takes 7-10 days.
  • Thin seedlings to about 8-12 inches apart once they are a few inches tall to promote healthy growth.
  • To extend the harvest period, sow seeds every 2 weeks throughout the growing season.

  • Corn Sugar Buns prefers full sun and fertile, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter.
