How to Germinate Wild Arugula

How to Germinate Wild Arugula (Diplotaxis tenuifolia)
  • Sow wild arugula seeds directly into the garden bed or containers from early spring to late summer.
  • Sprinkle seeds on the soil surface and cover lightly with a thin layer of soil, about 1/4 inch deep.
  • Space seeds approximately 1 inch apart in rows, leaving 12-18 inches between rows for proper growth.
  • Water gently to keep the soil consistently moist until seeds germinate, usually within 7-14 days.
  • Wild arugula prefers cooler temperatures (50-75°F or 10-24°C) for optimal germination.
  • Thin seedlings to about 4-6 inches apart once they develop a few true leaves.
