Green Globe is a popular Artichoke with thick tasty hearts, tender leaves, and a nutty flavor.

The heads are 3”-5” wide, medium green, and tinged with purple.

The plants are attractive in their own right and add ornamental appeal to the garden.

Although grown as an Annual in zones 3-6, in zones 7-9 they can live for five to seven years or more as a perennial.

Maturity is around 85 days, and they are not too fussy about soil but require water in dry conditions.

Slugs can be a problem with artichokes!

Artichokes flower from seed the first year, and it’s best to cut the first buds before they flower which encourages secondary buds to appear for a higher yield.

Growing Instructions:Direct sow Spring or Fall or: Start indoors 2-3 months before last frost in fridge for 14 days then sow ½” deep and keep at 60-70F. When leafed keep below 50F for 12-20 days. Transplant after last frost 3 feet apart in rows 5 feet apart.
