How to Germinate Cilantro (Coriander)
  • Sow cilantro seeds directly outdoors in early spring or fall, as they prefer cooler temperatures for germination.
  • Crush the seed husks gently to split them into halves; this helps improve germination rates.
  • Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep in rows spaced 12 inches apart, ensuring a well-draining soil bed.
  • Water gently to keep the soil moist during the germination period, which usually takes 7-14 days.
  • Thin seedlings to 6 inches apart once they have grown a few inches tall to allow for proper air circulation.
  • For a continuous harvest, sow seeds every 2-3 weeks throughout the growing season.

  • Cilantro prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade, especially in warmer climates.
