It is highly nutritional and excellent for canning, pickling, juicing, and eating fresh.
It can be harvested for baby beets or grown on for full size.
All parts of the plant are edible. The leaves can be picked young to eat raw in salads, or the large leaves can be harvested and cooked like Chard or Kale.
Detroit Dark Red is a full, deep red globe beetroot with a dark green top. It is frost tolerant and can be direct sown four weeks before the last frost date.
